Elsa/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Major League Baseball has suspended New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Germán for 81 games for violating the league’s domestic violence policy, commissioner Rob Manfred announced Thursday.
The suspension includes the nine regular season games Germán missed when he was placed on administrative leave on Sept. 19, as well as the Yankees’ postseason games. That leaves 63 games to be served on Germán’s suspension.
The league has yet to disclose what caused the violation.
The Yankees issued a statement on the suspension, expressing support for Commissioner Rob Manfred’s decision.
