JayDaYoungan was laid to rest on Sunday, less than two weeks after his tragic shooting. He was honored with a funeral at Bogalusa High School’s auditorium, where hundreds attended to pay their last respects.

Bogalusa, Louisiana, Mayor Wendy O’Quin-Perrette also mourned his loss in a statement later shared on Facebook.

“As a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, I share with you a love for the traditions, history, and hometown flavour of our city,” she wrote. “The city of Bogalusa and our people mean everything to me. The violence that has affected Bogalusa’s citizens is alarming. As your mayor for the last eight years, I have, alongside so many of you, wrangled the damage of floods, hurricanes, COVID, and other unavoidable catastrophes.”

She continued, “But the violence we have recently witnessed is entirely avoidable, and as the leader of our city it is my sworn duty to do everything within my power to keep the people of Bogalusa safe. The pain that has been caused by the loss of JayDaYoungan and the injury of Kenyatta Scott Sr. is indescribable to the family and friends of these victims, and to our community as well.”

As previously reported, JayDaYoungan, born Javorius Scott, and his father, Kenyatta Scott Sr., were struck in a July 27 shooting. The rapper passed away, while his dad survived and suffered injuries.

No arrests have been made yet.

The Game is hyping fans up with the official track list for his album Drillmatic: Mind vs. Heart. Taking to Instagram Monday, the rapper unveiled the titles of the songs that will appear on the upcoming record.

According to the post, there will be 30 new tracks for fans to listen to. The Game assures us there’ll be no need to skip through any of the songs.

“DRILLMATIC the REAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR out everywhere midnight Friday, August 12th !!!!” he wrote. “I promise I’m going 30 for 30 no skips !!!! As Hit-Boy would say… ‘issa 30 clip’ !!!!”

A quick glimpse at Game’s newly unveiled track list and one would assume there are no features on Drillmatic. Among the songs listed, however, is the previously released single “Eazy” with Kanye West. The Compton rapper has also teased collaborations with Lil Wayne, G Herbo, NBA YoungBoy, Chris Brown, Chlöe Bailey and Big Sean, who TMZ says will appear on the song and video for “Stupid.” 

Drillmatic will serve as the follow-up to 2019’s Born to Rap. It’s executive produced by Hit-Boy and co-executive produced by Ye. Game previously revealed Jay-Z cleared samples for seven songs on the project, which has seen several delays due to other sample clearance issues.

The father and son convicted of federal hate crimes in the death of Ahmaud Arbery were sentenced Monday to life in prison.

Gregory McMichael, 66, chased 25-year-old Arbery on Feb. 23, 2020, with his son, Travis McMichael, 36, who fired the fatal shot.

The McMichaels’ neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan, 52, joined the chase and recorded video. He was also convicted of federal hate crimes and was sentenced Monday to 35 years.

“I feel every shot every day that I wake up,” Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, told reporters outside the Brunswick, Georgia, courthouse Monday. The Rev. Jesse Jackson joined Arbery’s parents at the sentencing.

All three men are already serving life in prison for Arbery’s killing after being found guilty of murder in a Georgia state court last fall. The McMichaels were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole while Bryan was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.

The three white men were convicted in the federal case in February by a jury that decided they followed and killed Arbery because he was Black.

The rapper Fetty Wap displayed a gun and threatened to kill someone during a December FaceTime call, according to federal prosecutors on Long Island who moved to revoke his bond Monday.

Fetty Wap, 30, was arrested in New Jersey on charges he violated the conditions of his pretrial release.

Fetty Wap, whose birth name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, is awaiting trial in Central Islip federal court after he was indicted last September for conspiring to distribute heroin and fentanyl on Long Island. He was released on a $500,000 bond.

Federal prosecutors are now seeking to revoke the bond because Maxwell allegedly violated its terms during the December 11, 2021 FaceTime call in which he threatened to kill the person on the other end of the phone. That person was identified in court papers as John Doe.

“According to John Doe, the FaceTime call occurred on December 11, 2021, and in the call the defendant possessed a gun, threatened to kill him, and called an individual a ‘rat,’ despite the fact that this was a direct violation of both state law and the conditions of his release,” an affidavit sworn by FBI Special Agent Derek Wonderland said. The FBI obtained a video recording of the FaceTime call in which Fetty Wap “is shown holding a gun and pointing it towards John Doe,” according to the affidavit.

“The defendant then says to John Doe ‘Imma kill you and everybody you with,’ which he then repeats one more time. The defendant then continues to threaten John Doe, saying ‘I’m gonna kill you,’ a threat which he repeats several more times throughout the video call.”

Lil Baby visited Atlanta for his annual back-to-school giveaway last weekend. The event took place at the West End Mall, where he gifted fans with free goods, including shoes, clothing and accessories.

The rapper teamed up with hunger relief organization Goodr for the cause, marking his third back-to-school giveaway to date.

“We are grateful to Lil Baby for his continued resolution in giving back to his community,” Goodr CEO Jasmine Crowe said in a statement. “It is an honor to continually team up with such a household name to relieve some of the ongoing financial burden people are facing.”

Footage posted on Lil Baby’s Instagram shows the pandemonium that broke out upon his arrival at the Atlanta mall. “3rd year was crazier than usual,” he wrote of the event.

Beyoncé‘s “Break My Soul” has risen to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The single, which debuted at #15, is the #1 song on the all-genre chart. 

“Break My Soul” officially lands Bey her first solo hit since 2008’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and eighth solo #1 overall. She previously topped the charts with “Crazy in Love” feat. Jay-Z; “Baby Boy” feat. Sean Paul; “Check on It” feat. Slim Thug; “Irreplaceable”; “Perfect” with Ed Sheeran; and Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Savage.” This excludes the four #1 songs recorded with Destiny’s Child.

“Break My Soul” was released on June 20 as the lead single to Beyoncé‘s Renaissance and is now available in different iterations. As for the album itself, it currently sits at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. All songs on the record have placed on the Hot 100, according to Billboard.
