Lizzo clarifies she wasn't referencing anyone in her VMA acceptance speech
Lizzo says she didn’t reference comedian Aries Spears at Sunday night’s VMAs, but instead was addressing all her haters at once.
The hitmaker made headlines when accepting the Video for Good award by making remarks similar to how Nicki Minaj called out Miley Cyrus at the 2015 VMAs. Lizzo said in her speech, “Now, to the b****es that got something to say about me in the press — I’m not gonna say nothing.”
Fans thought she was speaking about Spears, who recently made negative comments about Lizzo’s body and said she was “built like a plate of mashed potatoes.”
And while Spears had something not-so-nice to say about Lizzo, she made it clear she won’t be talking to him directly.
“Lemme make one thing VERY clear— I wasn’t addressing anybody in my speech,” the singer tweeted. “I was addressing EVERYBODY.” She also added three smooch emojis.
The Grammy winner also made it known she has moved on from the drama. She declared in a follow up tweet, “B**** I’m getting a pumpkin spice latte tomorrow.” That statement got her a thumbs up from Starbucks, which wrote back, “Turn up the flannel, turn down the lights” — a reference to Lizzo’s hit “About Damn Time.”

Ciara is “on a mission” as she launches her own skin care line
Ciara has become a busy entrepreneur during the pandemic, with a fashion house and a rum brand — and now she’s launching her own skin care line.
The “Level Up” singer named her new company OAM, an acronym for “on a mission.”
OAM will debut on September 15 with five products that she’s tested on 96 women of various skin tones.
“I would say this is truly a missing piece in skin care today,” the Grammy winner told Allure. “These products are for all skin types, so that’s why we wanted to do [the clinical testing] with every skin tone.”
The line includes the Vitamin C Hydrating Cleanser, Vitamin C Brightening Pads, Vitamin C Brightening Serum, Vitamin C Eye Revitalizer and Vitamin C Radiance Moisturizer.
Ciara explains why vitamin C is so important.
“It helps to protect. It helps to correct. It helps to prevent,” she says. “You need that vitamin C to give you that glowing skin that we’re always looking for.”
After launching her House of LR&C fashion company in 2020 and becoming a co-owner of Ten To One Rum in 2021, the versatile entertainer says skin care was next on her list.
“I had a vision for things that were important to me to check off on my dream list of things to accomplish,” Ciara shared. “This was one of them.”

Oprah shares advice for Sherri Shepherd’s talk show premiere
Sherri Shepherd is ready to premiere her talk show next month after receiving advice from one of her idols, Oprah Winfrey.
The comedian says Oprah called her after she sent her texts requesting tutoring from the 19-time Emmy award winner.
“I took 15 pages of notes until my fingers cramped up,” the former co-host of The View told Entertainment Weekly. “I took a potassium pill because my fingers were cramped and I couldn’t write anymore. I said, ‘Hold on, I have to commit this to memory,’ because nobody will believe that I’m talking to and laughing with Oprah.”
“One thing I took from Oprah is, she said, ‘Sherri, the show is not about the ratings, it’s about the energy,’” Shepherd continued. “You put out the energy, and it will come back in direct proportion to you from the audience. It’s your responsibility. You’re in charge of the energy that is on your show.”
Sherri says she embraced those words of wisdom.
“I felt that, because I was like, damn, I just wanted to show some viral videos and make people laugh,” she added. “But it’s true, it’s the energy you give off, which is why we love Oprah.”
Oprah hosted her iconic talk show from 1986 to 2011. Now as Shepherd looks forward to her debut in less than two weeks, she says Winfrey’s advice is precious.
“I’m literally going to frame the 15 pages of notes,” Shepherd shares. “I’m not even throwing them away. Those will be in my memoirs, my biopic, the notes will be on the wall. If I could’ve recorded Oprah, I would’ve, because I said that nobody is going to believe this.”
After filling in as a guest host on The Wendy Williams Show, Shepherd’s own show, simply titled Sherri, premieres September 12.

As previously reported, it was announced Monday that an expanded version of the best-selling album of all time — Michael Jackson’s Thriller — arrives November 18 and is now available for preorder.
November marks the 40th anniversary of the album’s release in 1982.
Michael Jackson Thriller 40 is a double CD set with a bonus record filled with rare audio recordings and demos that Jackson worked on during the 1982 album’s sessions.
Sony Music will begin unveiling the titles of every bonus track after Labor Day — but only one at a time. The final mystery title will be made known on November 17.
Sony is further treating fans by including 15 rarely heard tracks in an expanded digital release of the Thriller album.
Thriller sold over 70 million copies worldwide and is certified 34-times Platinum by the RIAA, making it the second-best-selling album in the U.S. The album dominated the Billboard 200 chart for an impressive 37 weeks. It also dominated the Billboard Hot 100 with seven top-10 hits, including the chart-topping singles “Billie Jean” and “Beat It.”

Report: Tyrese requests custody of his daughter in divorce battle with estranged wife
Tyrese and his estranged wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, were in court Monday for their divorce case, and the Baby Boy star reportedly is requesting legal custody of their 3-year-old daughter, Soraya.
The singer/actor is also asking that Samantha’s request for monthly spousal support be denied and that a prenuptial agreement be enforced, according to TMZ.
As previously reported, she is asking for $20,000 a month in child support, which Tyrese has called “unreasonably high.” Samantha also wants him to pay 100% of the child’s expenses, including medical bills, private school tuition and nanny salaries.
The couple married on Valentine’s Day in 2017. Samantha filed for divorce in September 2020, and claimed that Tyrese cut her off financially and locked her out of their house.
Samantha is Tyrese’s second wife. He was previously married to Norma Mitchell from 2007 to 2009. They have a 15-year-old daughter, Shayla.

Beyoncé narrates Gatorade commercial celebrating Serena Williams’ historic career
As Serena Williams plays in what she says will be her final tournament this week, the US Open in New York City, her good friend Beyoncé is paying homage to the tennis star by narrating a Gatorade commercial in tribute to her historic career.
“When the world writes her down in history, we’ll begin where she started: at love,” Queen Bey says, opening the ad titled “Love Means Everything.”
“To feel like a queen unapologetically, with a crown indefinitely,” Beyoncé continues. “A movement to always love being a proud Black woman, a parent, a dreamer, a leader. To love being one of a kind.”
The Renaissance singer has known the 23-time Grand Slam tennis champion for many years. Serena appeared in Beyoncé’s 2016 “Sorry” video from the Lemonade film. Williams also joined the 28-time Grammy winner as she performed the song on the Formation Tour in October 2016 at Met-Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Last year, Beyoncé recorded the Oscar-nominated song “Be Alive” for King Richard, the film about how Serena’s father, Richard Williams, developed her and sister Venus into tennis superstars.
“So when we write her down in history, no matter who you are, no matter where you are, we’ll remember what she’s shown us,” Beyoncé concludes. “A movement to love you.”
Serena appears on the cover of this week’s TIME. The magazine writes, “The greatest female athlete of all-time—check that: perhaps the greatest athlete of all-time.”

Gang that robbed Mariah Carey, used social media and TV to target the wealthy, indicted in Atlanta
The suspects accused of robbing Mariah Carey‘s home in Atlanta while she was on vacation were part of a larger effort to use social media and TV to target wealthy people and celebrities, according to a 220-count indictment handed up last week in Fulton County, Georgia.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced at a news conference that 26 alleged members of the Drug Rich gang carried out home invasions and burglaries over the past year. Of the 26 people charged in the racketeering case, 18 are in custody.
According to Willis, Mariah was only one of a number of celebrities targeted. Others included Real Housewives of Atlanta star Marlo Hampton, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley, Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan and a woman who has a child with rapper Future.
“What they did was target people who showed their wealth on social media,” Willis said, then warned stars and influencers to avoid showing off online.
In Mariah’s case, she had posted on Instagram that she was on vacation, so authorities believe the gang targeted her because they knew she wasn’t in Atlanta.
