John Legend and Chrissy Teigen say caroling for their Christmas special “genuinely shocked” people

NBCJohn Legend and Chrissy Teigen loved going to random houses and surprising people with Christmas carols for their holiday special, A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy.

“People were genuinely shocked,” Teigen says. Legend adds, “We went to a pastor’s house. He and his wife were celebrating their anniversary that week. So I did a rendition of ‘All of Me’ just for them. We had a really nice time.”

The couple was joined by celebrity friends, including Raphael Saadiq, as they sang classic Christmas songs to complete strangers.

“We brought the Christmas magic and they were so happy to see us,” Chrissy says.”

We were dressed up,” her husband adds. “We had Christmas light necklaces on. We had full festive gear on and we brought a little joy to people.”

Legend and his wife say A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy was inspired by Christmas episodes of their favorite sitcoms, including Living Single and Family Matters.

“Every time there was like a holiday special, you just knew that just there was going to be a little lesson in the end,” says Teigen. “It would be really cheeky and funny and I loved it.

“Our special is really based on us loving those classic sitcoms, and doing our own version of that,” John adds.

A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy, featuring a special appearance by Stevie Wonder, will tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

Tim Tebow says 'God used the highs and lows for a purpose' in his career

ABC News(NEW YORK) — ABC News’ Paula Faris sat down with Tim Tebow for the latest epsiode of her new podcast, “Journeys of Faith with Paula Faris.”

The podcast featuring conversations on how faith has helped guide newsmakers and celebrities through their best and worst times. New episodes are available every Wednesday.

Here is Faris in her own words, about her new episode with Tebow:

Tim Tebow sees his career switch as God’s work

How do you give up on a dream? Just ask Tim Tebow.

There are few professional athletes who have been mocked and criticized as much as him. When he visited our ABC News studios in New York City, he brought his girlfriend, her parents and a strong message about failure and identity.

You see, he tells me, his dream of playing in the NFL “didn’t go as planned.” It was hard to give up on it. And there are still moments when he watches a game and thinks, “I could totally do that.”

Tebow, who’s been promoting his new book, This Is The Day, is now trading one dream for another: pursuing Major League Baseball and playing in the New York Mets’ minor league system.

But will it all be worth it if baseball doesn’t work out?

How does he feel about his career switch?

“I still feel like I could play (in the NFL). God used the highs and lows for a purpose. He opened up baseball.”

How does he identify himself?

“What happens when football is over? What happens when baseball is over? What happens when people don’t remember my name or who I am? If I found my identity in that, when it’s done, I’d be crushed. There’s nothing left.”

The Revolution remembers the historic Purple Rain tour: “That audience was out of this world”

Warner Brothers Records

Prince‘s band The Revolution is paying tribute to his legacy with a new tour, but bass player Brown Mark and keyboard player Dr. Fink say they will never forget the late artist’s historic Purple Rain trek, which saw them play 98 shows across North America in 1984 and 1985.

“The music was loud, but the crowd was louder than the music,” Mark tells ABC Radio. “[It was] my first experience with a real Prince audience, and I looked over at him and he was just as cool. That audience was out of this world.”

The bass player says the roar of the crowd was overwhelming even before the concerts began.

“I could not hear myself talk. It was so loud. I never heard anything like that in my life,” Mark recalls. “The decibels, it was so high and we hit the stage. There was a black curtain and it was closed and then [drummer] Bobby [Z]’s kick drum would go, and this light would flash on the kick drum for ‘Controversy’ and that curtain opened.”

The group rehearsed eight-to-12 hours a day to prepare for the tour, and once they hit the road, the days were filled with long soundchecks, the actual concerts, and then additional performances at after parties.

“Pretty long sound checks. Anywhere from two to two-and-a-half, sometimes three hours,” Dr. Fink remembers. “Then we’d do the show, and this wasn’t in every city. but we did a lot of after-show things. And then we’d be there till 3, 4, 5 in the morning, jamming and playing.”

The Revolution will wrap up the year with three shows in Texas: December 29 in Austin, December 30 in Houston, and New Year’s Eve in Dallas.

Quincy Jones honored in Hollywood; Usher & Snoop Dogg help salute the legendary producer

Amanda Edwards/WireImageUsher and Snoop Dogg were among the stars honoring Quincy Jones today as the legendary producer and composer placed his hands and footprints in cement at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

The 27-time Grammy winner was recognized for his lifetime achievement in entertainment, and is the first composer to be so honored. At the ceremony, he recalled how he became the first black composer in Hollywood.

“I am beyond thankful to have had the opportunity to work on more than 35 film scores,” he said. “When I started: No black composers on single screen credits.  And two people helped me solve that. That was Sidney Poitier. Gave me six films.  And Sidney Lumet.”

Usher thanked Quincy for inspiring him to help the less fortunate.

“I would not be the humanitarian I am today if you did not make me understand that there’s so much more important than what you’re doing in music,” the eight-time Grammy winner told Quincy. “You gotta make sure that you continue to supply the resource, the love, the passion…empathy for those people who might not necessarily have the voice to raise it.”

Snoop, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week, also praised Jones.

“Quincy has been like a real friend to me,” he said. “Giving us information and wisdom on how to live and how to better ourselves, and how to use our voice as a platform to be more positive.”

Jones is one of only 18 EGOT winners, having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.  His production credits include one of the best-selling singles of all time, “We Are The World,” and Michael Jackson’s iconic albums Thriller, Bad, and Off The Wall.

BET will honor Quincy with a two-hour special called Q85: A Musical Celebration for Quincy Jones, airing December 9. Stevie WonderOprah Winfrey and John Legend are among the stars featured in the show.
