Nicki Minaj threatens to sue “Daily Mail” host for defamation
Republic RecordsNicki Minaj‘s blossoming romance is proving to be quite troublesome. As previously reported on Monday, the Head Barb addressed the backlash regarding her new beau Kenneth Petty‘s checkered past and seemingly silenced her critics.
But, it appears as though Nicki has a new gripe with Daily Mail TV host, and former NFL player, Jesse Palmer for his recent comments concerning her personal life. So much so, that the “Good Form” rapper is threatening to sue Palmer for defamation.
Late Tuesday night, Nicki shared a screenshot of Palmer’s news segment via her Instagram account. “You better have a good lawyer,” she captioned the photo. “You just lied on me on [sic] nat’l TV & now you’re being sued.”
“You better be able to back up what you just said about me with FACTS,” she added.
In the clip, however, Palmer appears to be delivering a standard news report. While he briefly mentions Petty’s criminal history, which involves a rape conviction, he also makes mention of Nicki’s brother Jelani Maraj who was convicted in 2017 on child rape charges.
“Her fans are also worried, because this isn’t the first time Nicki Minaj has defended a sex offender,” Palmer notes. “Remember she supported her brother, Jelani Maraj, two years ago when he was found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.”
The onslaught of online threats have seemingly continued with the Head Barb taking to Twitter to dig at Palmer. “You going to jail,” she wrote in a series of tweets.
“The barbz are getting more tuition & student loan money after I sue this h*e.”

Nicholas WatkinsNipsey Hussle found himself hailing a fury of fists, at a West Hollywood nightclub, after being mistaken for fellow rapper O.T. Genasis.
The incident apparently occurred in the midst of the LA native’s celebratory outing with girlfriend Lauren London on Sunday night, TMZ has confirmed. According to the initial report, Nipsey was confronted by several men in the parking lot of the venue which resulted in punches being thrown and security being called.
And, it appears as though O.T. seems to have played a role in the altercation. Earlier that evening, the “CoCo” rapper was seen attacking a fellow patron inside the nightclub. The unidentified man then took it upon himself to settle the score by approaching O.T. in the parking lot—or at least who he assumed to be the rapper.
While it has yet to be confirmed, the situation looks to be a case of mistaken identity.
Nipsey, however, appears unfazed by the matter. Merely days following the brawl, TMZ caught up with the Victory Lap lyricist to speak briefly on the situation. “That’s life. We don’t give that s**t no attention,” Nipsey said outside of LAX. “[…] We workin’ on music at this point. Do I got any bruises, any scratches? We workin’ bro.”
And, the work certainly speaks for itself. As previously reported, the rapper received his first Grammy nod for Best Rap Album.

Janelle Monáe says her “Dirty Computer” Grammy nod shows that her peers recognize “marginalized voices”
Atlantic RecordsJanelle Monáe has been a woman to watch this past year. The multifaceted artist’s latest effort, Dirty Computer, appears on numerous year-end “best of 2018” lists, and now it’s earned her a career milestone: a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. Monáe says the project’s success is due to the fact that it speaks for people whose voices aren’t often heard.
Reacting to her Grammy nominations while promoting her upcoming movie Welcome to Marwen, Janelle told ABC Radio, “[I’m] just super-thankful that an album that was about me and also about a community of marginalized voices got recognized by my peers.”
Monae, who opened up about her sexuality in the songs on Dirty Computer, added, “I see the connection between those marginalized voices, and those folks who have been pushed to the margins of society because they’re walking in their truth.”
In addition to her Album of the Year nod, Monáe’s eye-catching video for “Pynk” — featuring her and a troupe of dancers wearing those instantly iconic pants — is nominated for Best Music Video. We’ll find out if she wins when the Grammys air February 10 on CBS.
Meanwhile, her movie Welcome to Marwen, which also stars Steve Carell, Leslie Mann and Gwendoline Christie, will be in theaters December 21.
