Cardi-pool Karaoke — Cardi B joins James Corden for a ride, a driving lesson, and scores a date with an elderly man
Terence Patrick/CBS ©2018 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights ReservedCardi B joined James Corden for his latest “Carpool Karaoke,” on Monday’s The Late Late Show. The pick-up had the Bronx-born rapper talking about her rise to fame, her inability to drive a car, and of course, some performances of her hits including “Bodak Yellow.”
Decked out in a yellow suit and transparent top, Cardi admitted getting her shot wasn’t easy. “At first people didn’t wanna play music on the damn radio,” she vented. “A lot of these deejays was sleeping on me, you know what I’m saying? So I had to keep on making music until I find the right one that’s gonna make them catch the eyes on me.”
“Because you know I’m funny…I’m saying some people just think everything is a joke and it’s like ‘hee-hee-hee-hee.’ Yeah, but I’m not laughing today. I want you to take this serious. But they wasn’t. They were frontin’ on the kid, yerrr?”
Cardi also explained she finds driving scary, but that doesn’t stop her from owning some of the finest cars in the world, which she says are mostly for her to pose in. Corden gave her a driving lesson that didn’t go well at all, until he got back behind the wheel and tried to expose a new audience to her music: an exercise class at a Los Angeles senior center.
There, the pair performed “I Like It Like That” for an elderly crowd that was particularly enthusiastic — especially an older man named Gunter who asked the newly single star if she’s looking “for a significant other.”
“Sure!” Cardi said, to laughs.

Lifetime's 'Surviving R. Kelly' documentary screening 'unmasked the power' of the controversial star
Prince Williams/WireImageThe Lifetime docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly, was unveiled on Monday night during a private screening at A&E’s New York City headquarters.
In a lofty conference room, in Midtown Manhattan, the first two episodes of the six-part series were put on display as activists and members of the press took on the jarring details of R. Kelly‘s controversial persona.
Filmed in the style of a timeline documentary, the first episode begins by exploring Kelly’s childhood in his native Chicago during the 1970s. It is here that viewers gain a sense of what may have ultimately driven the “Bump n’ Grind” singer to prey on young women. The following episode then dives into the singer’s legal troubles, beginning with his highly-publicized child pornography case in 2008.
Shortly after the screening, director Dream Hampton expounded on how she developed the first two episodes of the series. “We got a chance over six episodes to do a lot of different things,” she began. “I knew it was important to establish who he is, in terms of his personal life.”
She continued, “Those [first] two episodes were very challenging for me. Watching some of these links has been devastating. It’s been a really dark time.”
As previously reported, Surviving R. Kelly features in-depth interviews with over 50 people including John Legend, Wendy Williams, Kelly’s ex-wife Andrea Kelly, former girlfriend Kitti Jones, singer Sparkle and Kelly’s brothers Carey and Bruce Kelly.
The three-night event premieres January 3, 2019 at 9 p.m on Lifetime. It will continue on January 4, and conclude on January 5.

Meek Mill addresses prison stint, his relationship with Nicki Minaj and more on Twitter
Miller MobleyMeek Mill has never been one hold to back, especially when it comes to speaking his truth.
On Sunday afternoon, the Championships rapper threw open the Twitter gates with an #AskMeekquestion-and-answer session which didn’t leave much to the imagination. A fan initiated the open forum by asking Meek about his ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj and her new beau Kenneth Petty. The Philly native, however, didn’t appear too fazed by the controversial romance.
“I don’t feel nothing … and I don’t know that man to judge him … I went to check him out on her page and found out I was blocked,” Meek wrote in response to the fan.
Furthermore, the Maybach Music signee offered a bit of insight into the difficulties of his year-long prison stay. He revealed that worst part was “not being able to go home of course,” but added, “that cold metal toilet…I’m picky about my toilets…and I was sad it was a toilet 3 feet away from my bed.”
Meek also alluded to more explicit topics. He admitted, “When you get old you start getting freakier it’s a fact.”
Cardi B defends her publicist after fans claim Offset's onstage apology was staged
ABC/Image Group LAIt was the apology seen around the world, but now fans are raising questions as to the legitimacy of Offset‘s campaign to win back Cardi B.
As previously reported, during Cardi’s set at the Rolling Loud festival on Saturday night, the Migos front man ambushed her and begged for her forgiveness. But some fans are now questioning whether the gesture — complete with dozens of roses — was simply a publicity stunt.
As proof, they point to the actions of Cardi’s publicist Patientce Foster. In footage captured backstage at the festival, Foster is seen leading Offset onstage during Cardi’s set.
On Sunday night, however, Cardi made it very clear where she stands with Patientce. According to Cardi, her publicist has played a vital role, not only in her life but also in the lives of her estranged husband and daughter Kulture.
“Y’all expect me to be okay with y’all dragging her because y’all don’t agree with some s***?” she said during an Instagram live video.
Cardi continued, “She was trying to help a man that was telling her like, ‘Yo, I love my wife. Please help me get my wife.’ She told me what happened. I’m not gonna let y’all drag my b**** for that.”

The Super Bowl halftime show used to be the biggest gig for musicians. Not anymore
artisteer/iStock(NEW YORK) — Around this time last year, Justin Timberlake was set to perform during the famed halftime show at Super Bowl LII.
Fast forward 12 months and the show that used to be one of the biggest gigs in the music industry is now reportedly struggling to book talent.
Timberlake was announced as the headliner in October of 2017 and as of mid-December, rumored headliner Maroon 5 haven’t publicly committed to the gig, though reports have them taking the stage in Atlanta on Feb. 3.
With the big game just six weeks away, it’s somewhat shocking that no official announcement has been made.
The Kaepernick effect
Former 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick started taking a knee in 2016 during the National Anthem to protest racial oppression in the United States.
His divisive protest quickly caught fire and had hundreds of other players doing the same.
Reactions from NFL team owners, players and fans were mixed, as some felt like it was a dig at U.S. vets, while others felt it was a peaceful way to bring Kaepernick’s message to light.
And while this had a viral effect on the NFL in 2016 and 2017, and is still ongoing today, why is the Super Bowl halftime show suffering now?
Well, the easiest answer is Kaepernick, who was thrust back into national discussion for not only still being unsigned, but also becoming part of Nike’s new advertising push.
In September, Nike announced that the former NFL star and activist would be the face of the “Just Do It” campaign.
But it’s not just about Kaepernick.
Variety’s senior music editor Jem Aswad says it’s much more than just about Kaepernick, though that is certainly a major driving force.
“There’s always drama associated with the halftime performance,” he told ABC News.
This year, in addition to Kaepernick being vaulted back into the spotlight, Aswad points out that the game is being held in Atlanta, a city known for its rich history steeped in legendary black music.
“They had TLC, they had Usher, as well as Jermaine Dupri, who had Criss Cross and others, Atlanta is a juggernaut right now,” he said. “There are so many [now and dating back decades], I’d almost be reluctant to rattle them off.”
“They had this opportunity to celebrate Atlanta music with the Super Bowl Halftime show and what do we get, Maroon 5. This really isn’t a diss at Maroon 5,” he stressed. “Nothing against Maroon 5!”
Aswad said the NFL really missed the boat in celebrating the culture of the city where the big game is taking place with an all-white rock group.
The music editor added that with the positioning of the game in Atlanta, the controversy surrounding Kaepernick does come back up, as his protest is a “loaded topic,” especially in the “black entertainment community.”
“Some of the artists who have been approached either with Maroon 5 or before them … they are trying to balance the lineup with ideally a black performer from Atlanta, but we keep hearing they are getting, ‘No’s,'” Aswad added. “Rihanna reportedly turned them down, Cardi B has supposedly been going back and forth, we hear they are talking to Lauren Hill, we heard they are talking to Usher.”
He doesn’t think this has ever happened and that the show has not been set in the modern era so late in the game.
“I feel kind of bad for Maroon 5, they think they get this great opportunity and the reaction has been probably not what they would have hoped,” he added.
Maroon 5 STILL not confirmed?
It was as early as October that outlets like Rolling Stone magazine and Aswad at Variety were reporting that A-list stars, like the aforementioned Rihanna, were turning down the halftime gig because their values didn’t align with the NFL.
In November, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine spoke to Ellen DeGeneres and said about his band taking on the show: “I can neither confirm nor deny the truth of this rumor. It’s definitely a rumor and the rumor is a rumor that everyone seems to be discussing.”
“Whoever does it is probably equal parts nervous and excited,” he added, but noted, “This is all speculative because I don’t know who I’m talking about!”
Despite the lack of confirmation from Levine, there’s a petition on Change.org that has almost 75,000 signatures asking the band to drop out.
A request for comment from Maroon 5’s rep was not immediately returned to ABC News.
Weeks out and still no official word.
While there are a slew of unconfirmed reports on the halftime gig, absolutely no one has gone on the record and confirmed anything.
“Any act that would perform alongside Maroon 5 is effectively co-signing the NFL,” Aswad told ABC News.
Variety and Aswad reported over the weekend that Cardi B, who collaborated on a hit with the band and will be in Atlanta during the airing of the show in February, is also on the fence and hasn’t confirmed or denied that she’s been offered a role in the halftime show.
And while we don’t know if Cardi will join Maroon 5 on stage, other artists like Post Malone and Bruno Mars will be in town around that time for other shows.
In fact, Malone will be joining Aerosmith for a pre-game concert days before as part of the Super Bowl week celebrations.
That doesn’t mean they’ll head over to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to possibly join Maroon 5 … that’s if Maroon 5 even perform themselves.
What about the Anthem?
Last year it was P!nk performing a rendition of the national anthem that left millions with chills and feelings of American pride.
This year, while the halftime gig is the talk of the town, no one has mentioned the anthem, which still doesn’t have a performer.
So, while the teams are starting to plan for the playoffs with two weeks left in the regular season, the biggest game of the year is without an “official” halftime show and singer for the national anthem.
Only time will tell how the NFL and Atlanta fill that very large void.
The NFL did not immediately return ABC News’ request for comment.

Jacquees has now dragged Keith Sweat into his “king of R&B” debate
KDS EntertainmentJacquees is doubling down on his “king of R&B” pronouncement — even if it means slighting veteran R&B crooner Keith Sweat in the process.
Saturday night, the Lost At Sea singer rubbed shoulders with Sweat backstage at a radio holiday show and things took a left turn rather quickly.
In footage captured by TMZ, of the awkward encounter, a camera man is seen approaching Sweat to hear his thoughts regarding Jacquees’ recent comments. But before the “Nobody” singer can relay his answer, he’s interrupted by a cry of surprise by someone in Jacquees’s camp, who alerts the Cash Money singer to the conversation that is taking place.
It doesn’t take long for Jacquees to rush to the camera and once more assert: “I’m the king.” He continues, “This the king from back then. I’m the king for right now. This Keith Sweat. Big Sweat. But, it’s ‘Big Q.’”
As soon as Jacquees is done, however, Sweat supplies the cameraman with a rebuttal of his own: “I’m still getting that bag. I don’t know what he’s talking about.”
Before dashing away, Jacquees offers one comment, reiterating, “I’m the king.” Sweat is left pondering what just took place, as his team advises TMZ to move along with their cameras.
But, it appears as though there were no hard feelings: Hours later, Jacquees shared a photo alongside Sweat via Instagram, along with the caption: “We got into it earlier, we family now.”

Snoop Dogg weighs in on Kanye’s recent Twitter tirade: “He acting a plum damn fool”
ABC/Randy HolmesSnoop Dogg has seemingly had enough of Kanye West‘s Twitter antics.
In the wake of Ye’s recent, lengthy tirade against Drake, as well as against Ariana Grande, Snoop shared his two cents on the matter in a video posted to his Instagram.
“Is y’all getting tired of Kanye West and these tweets? ‘Cause I am,” the veteran rapper said while Drake’s “From Time” played in the background. “I see why n****, you and Donald Trump hangout. N****, y’all tweet like a mother******.”
He continued, “I think that n**** need Dr. Phil or Maury … You know what? That n**** need Jerry Springer.”
Snoop further criticized ‘Ye for addressing Drake over social media, even advising the Chi-town native to “get your a** off your phone […] and go holla at that n**** in real life.”
“Stop telling the whole f****** world what you’re going through. We don’t give a f***!,” Snoop concluded.
Kanye has surprisingly remained relatively mum so far regarding Snoop’s comments.

Offset ambushes Cardi B’s performance at Rolling Loud to offer an apology
ABC/Image Group LA Offset is pulling out all the stops to win back Cardi B.
Saturday night, the Migos affiliate offered a very public olive branch to his wife — by crashing her set during the Rolling Loud festival in Los Angeles.
In a fan-captured video, Cardi is seen preparing to perform when stagehands abruptly interrupt her set to roll out dozens of roses which spell out “Take Me Back Cardi.” Shortly afterwards, Offset appears on stage to deliver an apology.
“I just want to tell you, I’m sorry bro in front of the world. I love you,” Offset says into the microphone over the roaring crowd. “Whatever I gotta to do to show you. I will.”
The audience was naturally split over how to take the overture, with a few fans booing while others pleaded with Cardi to “take Offset back.”
Cardi, however, didn’t appear to be too thrilled by the spectacle. Hours later, the “Money” chart-topper took to social media to address her fans and their attempts to defend her. And from the looks of it Cardi, has had enough of the criticism being spewed at her ex.
“Right, wrong, or indifferent, I don’t want people to just keep doing f*** s***, saying f*** s***. Violating my baby father is not going to make me feel any better, because at the end of the day, that’s still family,” Cardi said in a video posted on Instagram.
Sunday morning, the aftermath continued with Offset offering up a response of his own.
“All of my wrongs have been made public,” he tweeted, “I figure it’s only right that my apologies are made public too. A n**** was just trying …..thank god I ain’t got no balloons sheeesh.”
