TLC's Chilli says she's open to collaborating with Cardi B: “She is an exception to the rule”

ABC/Heidi GutmanTLC‘s Chilli is #TeamCardiB all the way.  In an exclusive interview with People,  the nineties icon shared that she is very much considering a collaboration with the “Money Bag” rapper.

Chilli, born Rozonda Thomas, explained that she and her fellow TLC bandmate Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins typically steer away from working with other women out of respect for the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who died in a 2002 car accident.  However, she said Cardi is the “exception.”

“I don’t usually like to collaborate with females, and the reason why is because of Lisa,” Chilli told the publication. “That is just a little weird for me, personally. But I think with Cardi B, she is an exception to the rule.”

The “No Scrubs” singer added, “TLC and Cardi B all day long. We’ve gotten a lot of love from Cardi. It’s really an honor.”

While Cardi has yet to respond to Chilli’s open invitation, the Bronx-bred rapper has previously paid tribute to the iconic ’90s girl group. During her Coachella performance in April, Cardi wore a custom design inspired by TLC’s eclectic style.  She also shouted out Left Eye in a lyric on her song “Thru Your Phone.”

In addition, Cardi showed a flair for ’90s-style jams on the hit Bruno Mars “Finesse” remix.

TLC's Chilli, T.I. and The Game are now weighing in on Cardi B's relationship status

ABC/Image Group LAAnother day, another hot take on Cardi B‘s highly publicized breakup with Offset

In the midst of the Atlanta’s rapper campaign to win back his estranged wife, T.I.The Game and Chilli are all adding their two cents on the matter.

Late last week, Tip wrote a sympathetic plea to the “Bodak Yellow” star via social media. “Take Offset back Cardi B. Ain’t nobody perfect,” the rap mogul urged in the comment section of a video Offset posted to his Instagram asking for Cardi’s forgiveness.

Following suit, The Game shared a long soliloquy on his own personal Instagram account expressing his support for the estranged couple.

“I really feel like y’all need to get back together. I feel like y’all are a family unit,” the L.A. rapper began. “A) y’all got a beautiful, beautiful brand new baby. B) it’s the holidays and C) y’all are a family unit man. It go together, man. Y’all can’t break up.”

The Documentary 2 artist added, “Cardi B without Offset is kind of like Jay-Z without Beyonce, the s*** just don’t make sense. Y’all are a unit.”

Now TLC‘s Chilli has shared how proud she is of Cardi ability to weather her very public split. In an interview with PEOPLE on Wednesday, the singer admitted that she felt the Bronx-bred was “braver” than she was when it came to her relationship woes with Usher in 2003.

“I have gone through a public breakup, and it is not easy,” Chilli told the publication. “It seems like she is owning [it] and she is like, ‘Hey this is what happened,’ and then she is still moving.”

Olympic swimming champion Missy Franklin announces retirement at 23

Robert Gauthier/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Five-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin has announced she is retiring from swimming. The 23-year-old athlete’s announcement was published in an article on the ESPN website.

In her statement, Franklin discussed the difficulty she faced in making the decision to retire from swimming professionally.

“It took me a long time to say the words, ‘I am retiring,” wrote Franklin, a two-time FINA World Swimmer of the Year. “A long, long time. But now I’m ready. I’m ready not to be in pain every day. I’m ready to become a wife, one day a mother. I’m ready to continue growing each and every day to be the best person and role model I can be. I’m ready for the rest of my life.”

The pain Franklin mentioned refers to the chronic shoulder pain she has battled since 2015, according to ESPN. At 17 years old, Franklin’s 2012 Olympic performance gave indication she might dominate women’s swimming the way Michael Phelps had for men. But, due to constant pain and complications from a back injury, Franklin went through a series of career ups and downs in the years that followed, ESPN reports.

Despite her career lows, Franklin still retires with 27 medals in international competition, five Olympic gold medals and is the currently world record holder in the 200-meter backstroke.

Franklin wrote in her announcement letter that her retirement is not the end, but “a new beginning.”

“Swimming has been, and always will be, a big part of my life and I absolutely plan to stay involved in what I feel is the best sport in the world, just in a different way,” she wrote.

The highly-publicized case has been at the center of Juelz’s storyline on the reality series Love & Hip-Hop: New York.
