Trina Braxton pays tribute to her former husband who passed away last week
Trina Braxton and Gabe Solis in 2016; Robin L Marshall/Film MagicTrina Braxton is mourning her former husband, Gabe Solis, who passed away Thursday.
“On December 20, 2018, a chapter permanently closed for my sons and I. For over 16 years, Gabe Solis was an essential part of our lives,” the Braxton Family Values star commented on Instagram with a photo of her with Solis and their two children.
“Unfortunately, someone leaked the story before we could make everyone aware of his passing, and I apologize to those friends and family members for finding out through social outlets,” she continued.
TMZ reported that Solis died from cancer.
The couple married in 2003 and divorced in 2015. Earlier this year, they appeared together in an episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life.
“He was a father to my boys, a son, brother, and friend to many,” Braxton wrote in remembering Solis. “I would appreciate privacy and respect as we grieve his unexpected departure. @gabe_solis1234 I miss you, my dear friend.”
The tragic news arrives just days after Trina announced she would be joining her sister Tamar Braxton on the road, for select shows, during her nationwide tour.

Kodak Black's 'Dying to Live' debuts at number one
Scott Dudelson/Getty Images
Kodak Black has officially earned his first number-one album, with his sophomore project, Dying to Live.
The Florida rapper’s latest effort amassed 89,000 album equivalent units, which translates to 5,000 album sales and approximately 84,000 units garnered from streaming, Billboard reports. These numbers alone have made Dying to Live the most-streamed album of the week upon its release Dec. 14.
Kodak’s album sales were primarily influenced by the lead single, “Zeze,” which featured fellow hitmakers Travis Scott and Migos frontman Offset. The track currently sits at no. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 after peaking at no. 2 shortly after its release. Dying to Live also features guest appearances from Juice Wrld and Lil Pump.
On the heels of his lofty feat, the self-proclaimed “Project Baby” has dropped off a full-length video for his newest single, “From the Cradle.”

Cardi B puts jet-ski service on blast, denies she and Offset are back together
ABC/Image Group LARemember those pictures of Cardi B and her estranged husband, Offset, jet-skiing in Puerto Rico a few days ago? Cardi’s pretty upset that you ever saw them.
In an Instagram Live video captured by the Jasmine Brand, Cardi goes off on the jet-ski instructor.
“He was taking pictures of us in our phone, like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna send you these pictures so you guys can have a memory and I’m going to delete it’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, O.K.'” says an irate Cardi. “So, yeah, m************, the pictures, you sent them to TMZ!…what type of professional s*** is that?”
She then holds up a brochure of the jet-ski company, warning fans not to patronize them if they go to Puerto Rico.
Cardi also appears to respond to an off-mic question about whether she and Offset are still together. “No,” she replies, adding that she just needed to — well, you can guess.

LeBron James apologizes for Instagram post referencing 'Jewish money'
Jim McIsaac/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — LeBron James has apologized for a post he made on his Instagram account over the weekend referencing “Jewish money.”
In the post to his Instagram Stories on Saturday, the Los Angeles Lakers forward is seen riding as a passenger in a vehicle with the lyrics “We been getting that Jewish money, Everything is Kosher” typed on the screen. The lyrics are part of a song by rapper 21 Savage.
Following the Lakers’ loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, James told ESPN, “Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone.”
“That’s not why I chose to share that lyric,” James said. “I always [post lyrics]. That’s what I do. I ride in my car, I listen to great music, and that was the byproduct of it. So I actually thought it was a compliment, and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people. My apologies. It definitely was not the intent, obviously, to hurt anybody.”
Citing a league source, ESPN reports that the NBA does not appear to have any plans to fine James over the post.

Cardi B hasn't “had time” to make Mariah Carey collab happen
ABC/Image Group LA
Over the span of Mariah Carey‘s expansive career, she’s worked with an impressive list of rap acts, and now Cardi B is gunning to be the next.
During a recent sit-down with Extra, Cardi addressed rumors of a collab with Mariah. But the “Money” rapper revealed that despite her admiration for the highly-decorated superstar, they have yet to hit the studio together.
“It’s not in the works,” the 26-year-old told Calloway. “It would be nice if it could be in the works.”
Cardi added, “I’ve just been so busy that I haven’t had time to do my own songs.”
In between being a new mom and Grammy-nominated lyricist, we can’t really blame Cardi for not having enough time to reach out to other artists to set up studio time.
Rumors of a Cardi and Mariah union first surfaced during an episode of Watch What Happens Live, in which Carey expressed interest in creating a hip-hop remix of her new song “A No No.”
If the collab does happen, Cardi will join a who’s who of rappers that Mariah has worked with over the years. That list includes Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Busta Rhymes, JAY-Z, Ludacris, Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj, Nas and many more.

Racial bias investigation launched after high school wrestler forced to cut off dreadlocks
iStock(BUENA, N.J.) — Accusations of racial bias are being made after a high school wrestler in New Jersey was forced by a referee to cut off his dreadlocks or forfeit his match.
Buena Regional High School wrestler Andrew Johnson, who is black, was told he could not compete with long hair at a meet in Atlantic County on Wednesday. Johnson was wearing his usual headgear and covering, but the referee said it was not in compliance with rules by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).
Visibly distraught and being comforted by teammates and coaches, Johnson had his dreadlocks sheared off by a trainer. He returned to the mat and ended up winning his match.
The NJSIAA and the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR), a department in the state’s attorney general’s office, have both launched investigations into the incident.
“DCR generally becomes involved only if the matter is not properly investigated or remedied by that initial investigation,” Sharon Lauchaire, director of communications for the Office of the Attorney General, said in a statement provided to ABC News on Friday. “DCR was notified this afternoon of an incident involving an NJSIAA official and a wrestler from Buena High School. Because the incident involved an NJSIAA official, DCR has opened an investigation.”
The referee, identified by Philadelphia ABC station WPVI-TV as Alan Maloney, will continue to be allowed to referee as an investigation into the incident continues, but he won’t oversee any Buena Regional High School matches, according to the school district.
“The superintendent of the Buena Regional High School District spoke with the NJSIAA assistant director and stipulated that, although the investigation into the matter is ongoing, the assigned referee will no longer be permitted to officiate any contests that include any Buena Regional School District student-athletes,” Buena Regional School District Superintendent of Schools David Cappuccio Jr. wrote in a letter addressed to “community members and concerned citizens.”
Johnson’s act of cutting off his dreadlocks right beside the mat was captured in a video that has now spread across the internet and garnered widespread anger. The video of Johnson having his hair cut by a trainer was first shared on Twitter by SNJ Today Sports Director Mike Frankel. The video had 8.97 million views as of early Saturday.
Frankel called Johnson the “epitome of a team player” in his tweet.
The rule states, “If an individual has hair longer than allowed, it must be contained in a legal hair cover that is attached to the ear guards. The wrestler opting to wear a legal hair cover must wear it to the weigh-in procedure.”
Maloney, who is white, has a history of racism, according to WPVI-TV. Maloney was accused of using the N-word by a black referee at a referee get-together in 2016.
Maloney did not respond to a request for comment from ABC News.
“His hair has always been like that, so for them to now bring it up is out of line,” Johnson’s classmate, Maylin Bauza, told WPVI-TV.
