Report: Mariah Carey settles legal battle with former manager

ABC/Randy HolmesMariah Carey has reportedly settled her legal battle with former manager, Stella Bulochnikov.

According to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the two have reached a mutual agreement. Bulochnikov has agreed to drop her action against Mariah “with prejudice,” meaning she is barred from filing another case on the same claim. Each party will be responsible for its own attorneys’ fees and costs.

In April, the ex-manager filed a suit against the singer, accusing her of sexual harassment and breach of contract. She alleged Mariah was always walking around naked in front of her and did “sexual things” in her presence. Mariah denied the claims.

A year prior to the suit, the two appeared to be best friends and business partners. Bulochnikov was even part of Mariah’s docu-series, Mariah’s World.

Grand opening, grand closing: Facebook deletes R. Kelly's “Surviving Lies” rebuttal page

Asante McGee/Courtesy of LifetimeWell that was fast. Less than a day after it was reported that R. Kelly‘s camp was planning to launch a website to “expose” his accusers and highlight their “real” motivations, the Facebook page associated with the yet-to-be-launched site has been taken down.

As first reported by TMZ, in preparation for launching SurvivingLies.com, Kelly’s team created a Facebook page featuring one of the women who appears in Lifetime’s docuseries Surviving R. Kelly.

On that page, Kelly’s team had tried to discredit, Asante McGee, one of Kelly’s alleged “sex slaves,” by posting audio of a woman, identified as McGee’s daughter, saying her mother had raved about the benefits of being with the singer.

But now, according to TMZ, Facebook has officially pulled the plug on Kelly’s “Surviving Lies” support page, after it allegedly posted text messages between Kelly and a young woman, in which she repeatedly called the singer, “daddy.”

According to TMZ, a spokesperson for Facebook said, “The Page violated our Community Standards and has been removed. We do not tolerate bullying or sharing other’s private contact information and take action on content that violates our policies as soon as we’re aware.”

As previously reported, Kelly threatened to sue Lifetime if it didn’t pull the plug on series. The doc, which aired over the weekend, examined how Kelly’s star power allegedly allowed him to brainwash, manipulate and abuse numerous women.

It also featured interviews with people who were once affiliated with Kelly’s inner circle, as well as women who were reportedly pulled into his alleged “sex cult.”

Sparkle debuts new single “We Are Ready” following the airing of 'Surviving R. Kelly'

Courtesy of LIfetime

Sparkle has stepped back into the limelight to share her testimony with a new single titled “We Are Ready.”

Following the finale of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly series, in which she was featured, Sparkle took to Instagram to share that she’d released the Jesse Francois-produced track. In the dialed-down ballad, Sparkle declares “W.A.R.” for all women and bears witness to her life’s journey.

“They have tried to silence from us, strip away the power from us,” she sings at the beginning of the first verse. “Said that we were weak long enough, but time is up/We ain’t weak/ We have a voice and it’s loud/no, we ain’t just figure it out.”

The song is intended to serve as an anthem of empowerment for all women who have fought and survived abuse, whether it be domestic, physical or sexual, Sparkle’s personal website notes.

Upon its release, “We Are Ready” has received mixed reviews from Sparkle’s fans. While some people commended the singer for being “courageous” in sharing her truth, others feel she’s being opportunistic.

“Genius the way you used that R. Kelly scandal to promote your single,” noted one Instagram user.

The single arrives nearly 10 years after her heartfelt ballad “So Bad.”  It’s now available on all streaming services.

Report: Kanye West is allegedly working on a new album featuring Lil Wayne, Migos and Timbaland

ABC/Randy Holmes

Kanye West has been cooking up new material in the studio in preparation for his forthcoming album, TMZ has learned.

According to the report, Ye has allegedly been busy in a Miami studio collaborating with the likes of Lil WayneMigos2 Chainz and super-producer Timbaland. Newcomers Tee Grizzley and YNW Mellyhave also reportedly been tapped by the seasoned rap vet for the project.

While the details surrounding the project’s release date are scare, Kanye is believed to have been working on the bulk of the album while in Miami. The Kids See Ghost lyricist recently purchased a $14M South Beach condo, dubbed the “Billionaire Beach Bunker, as a surprise for wife Kim Kardashian. The couple was spotted over the weekend enjoying the tropical weather from the balcony of their new South Florida home.

Kanye was previously slated to drop his album Yandhi last September, which was set to feature guest appearances from Nicki Minaj6ix9ine and the late XXXTentacion. However, he delayed the album’s arrival simply because it wasn’t “ready yet.”

Last year, the Chi-town native kept his foot on the pedal as he executive-produced a roster of G.O.O.D Music releases including Pusha T‘s Grammy-nominated DAYTONA

Rihanna continues to tease the arrival of her new album with cryptic Instagram post

Brendon Thorne/Getty Images

Rihanna‘s imminent reign is upon us.

Sunday night, the “Work” star continued to tease the arrival of her forthcoming album via social media. Taking to her Instagram Story, Rihanna shared a cryptic post which presumably confirms that she’s been hard at work in the studio.

In the short clip, filmed using the “galazy filter,” the Bajan singer is seen flipping her hair before panning her camera to reveal that she is standing in front of a mixing board. Rih then raises her middle finger, as if she’s telling fans to chill and allow her creative process to unfold. The video, however, doesn’t contain any music, but you can hear someone harmonizing…something.

As previously reported, in December, the Grammy-winning star promised fans they could expect her ninth studio album at some point this year. Rih’s previous full-length album, ANTI, was released three years ago and fans have been clamoring for new material ever since.

Rihanna has allegedly been cooking up two new albums: one that’s a mix of dancehall and reggae music, and one that’s pop.

Omarion vows to stop performing songs penned by R. Kelly after B2K's Millennium Tour concludes

Brian Stukes/Getty Images

Omarion has joined the chorus of musicians denouncing R. Kelly, following the airing of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary.   Sunday night, the “Ice Box” singer took to Twitter to give his opinion on the allegations outlined in the shocking six-part expose.

“As an artist & a champion of the arts, I am moved to share my position on #SurvivingRKelly which I haven’t seen but felt compelled to voice my position on this very serious issue since R. Kelly has written songs for B2K,” Omarion shared with fans.

He continued, “R. Kelly was both a victim & a predator & accordingly must be held accountable but also get professional help. His artistic genius inspired us all. His music is being muted by the darkness of his actions. The dark always comes to light.”

Omarion then noted that on its upcoming tour, B2K will still perform the hits that Kelly wrote for them, but clarified that following the tour he would be “retiring” those songs from future set lists.

Omarion also explained that his decision came, in part, because of his two-year-old daughter A’mei. He wrote, “I too am raising a future queen.”

On B2K’s 2002 Pandemonium! album, Kelly penned hits like “Girlfriend,” “What A Girl Wants,” and “Bump, Bump, Bump.”

Dame Dash claims Jay Z and R. Kelly's joint album played a role in Roc-a-Fella's demise

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

In the wake of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly, Dame Dash is now weighing in on the controversy surrounding the R&B crooner.

During a recent sit-down with Kenyatta Griggs, of Hip Hop Motivation, the rap mogul revealed that it was difficult for him to watch the series, because it triggered memories of his late girlfriend Aaliyah

According to Dash, while she was alive, the “One In A Million” star was unable to come to terms with the emotional trauma of her relationship with Kelly.

“I watched some of it yesterday, as much as I could tolerate,” Dash says. “I’m not gonna lie, as a human, I was tight. I remember Aaliyah trying to talk about it and she couldn’t. She would just leave it at, ‘That dude was a bad man.'”

Dash also admits that Jay Z’s relationship with R. Kelly ultimately played a role in the demise of his and Jay’s joint business venture, Roc-a-Fella Records. In 2002, Jay and Kelly joined forces for their collaborative album Best of Both Worlds. Dash strongly opposed the project, and claims Jay was aware of Kelly’s alleged abuse of Aaliyah.

“If you remember, The Best of Both Worlds, you don’t see my name on that. I never wanted no parts of that,” he explains. “So, when [Jay Z] was doing that s*** I was like ‘Bro, you know how holmes violated…my girl. He violated a friend of yours.”

While Dame refused to be credited on the album, he says he donated the profits he earned from it to a breast cancer awareness organization which Aaliyah supported.
