Soulja Boy regrets not reaching out to Mac Miller prior to his passing: “I should have talked to him”
ABC/Rick RowellIt’s been four months since the untimely passing of Mac Miller, but many of the rapper’s close friends and collaborators are still reeling from his death including Soulja Boy.
In a candid interview, on Fair Game with Kristine Leahy, the “Crank That” rapper spoke openly about his mental health struggles, as well as Miller’s passing.
“Stress is real and you never know what a person is going through behind the camera,” Soulja Boy told Leahy when she asked for his thoughts on why more hip-hop artists have been addressing mental health.
Soulja Boy continued, “You never know what a person is going through in their head—you just never know. I feel like it’s big now with the passing of Mac Miller — rest in peace Mac Miller, who was a good friend of mine.”
The Atlanta rapper added, “I just wish like I could’ve just talked to him because like he DM’d me—he reached out to me like a week before [he passed] and I was just caught up with a lot of work.”
Soulja Boy credited the chaotic nature of the music industry for why he failed to respond to the Swimming artist’s message.
“Sometimes I don’t get to do certain things that I want ‘cause I gotta go do this interview and I gotta do this and I gotta do that,” he explained. “I just wished that I could have talked to him. I should have talked to him and [seen] what was going on.”
As previously reported, Miller tragically passed away last September following an overdose.

Common admits guilt over not denouncing R. Kelly earlier: “We failed our community as Black people”
ABC/Fred WatkinsCommon is the latest musician to publicly denounce R. Kelly, in light of the disturbing revelations made in Lifetime’s six-part expose detailing the singer’s reported crimes.
Tuesday, the “Glory” rapper was spotted at LAX by TMZ and asked to share his thoughts on the Surviving R. Kellydocumentary, particularly on how the music industry was complicit in allowing Kelly’s alleged serial abuses.
“If it wasn’t just black women who R. Kelly had been molesting and abusing, if it wasn’t just black women, he would’ve been attacked by the system in a different way,” Common told TMZ.
“And instead of trying to be like, ‘Let’s go try to resolve this situation and free these young ladies and stop this thing that’s going on,’ we were just like, ‘Man, we rocking to the music,'” the Chicago loyalist added.
Common then admitted his own fault in not using his platform to enact change.
“I’m guilty of that too myself because I didn’t stop and be like, ‘Yo,’ and speak against this. R. Kelly’s from my hometown,” the Grammy-winning artist admitted.
“At the end of the day, he’s a human being. He has his issues and we see that, but I can’t condone that and I shouldn’t be allowing that to happen,” he added. “We failed our community as Black people.”
The rapper joins a chorus of entertainers who have vowed to stop supporting Kelly, including John Legend, Tank, Ne-Yo and more.

Case of the ex: Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill continue to send subs each other's way
Miller Mobley
Despite parting ways nearly three years ago, Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill are still continued spewing verbal jabs at one another.
The most recent tiff occurred during Minaj’s FOMO Festival set in Australia a few days ago, where she threw a lyrical left hook at her ex. In fan-captured footage, of her performance of “Barbie Dreams,” Minaj is seen telling the crowd, “I mean, I could tell you secrets but I won’t/Cause being a bitter b**** is what I don’t.”
The not-so-subtle shade came just moments after Minaj had rapped a line about Mill in which she spits: “Meek still be in my DMs, I be having to duck him/I used to pray for times like this/Face a** when I f*** him.”
Mill responded shortly after in a series of tweets that have since been deleted, but were captured by The Shade Room. In one, he seems to wonder why Nicki is so mad at him, when there are other people deserving of her wrath.
“I’m cool I’m going good lol something is wrong here. Leave me alone you know I get a lil too out of control with the truth!” he warned. “Keep it classy.”
The Championships lyricist could have simply been subbing someone else, even though the timeline seems to indicate that it’s a response to Minaj.
Mill previously described “Barbie Dreams” as being a “dope rap,” and though he denied it was true, he admitted to liking the song.

Asante McGee/Courtesy of Lifetime
Lifetime’s six-part expose Surviving R. Kelly has now spawned a criminal investigation into the sexual abuse allegations leveled against the singer, TMZ has learned.
According to the report, the Fulton County District Attorney’s office has contacted several women featured in the docuseries who accused R. Kelly of sexual misconduct and pedophilia. Two of the women are reportedly Asante McGee and Joycelyn Savage; the latter is allegedly one of Kelly’s “hostages.”
The investigation was reportedly launched following the broadcast of the Lifetime doc. Over the course of three nights, the series analyzed the long-detailed history of Kelly’s predatory behavior and serial abuse.
When contacted by ABC News, a representative for the Fulton County DA’s office had no comment on the matter.
As previously reported, Kelly’s camp had been planning to launch a website to “expose” his accusers and highlight their “real” motivations. However, the Facebook page associated with the yet-to-be-launched site has since been taken down.

John Legend addresses critics after photo with Harvey Weinstein resurfaces: “Don't bring up some old pics of me”
Trae Patton/NBC
John Legend is doubling down on his stance against R. Kelly, even if it means being labeled a “hypocrite” by the R&B crooner’s legion of fans.
Monday night, an old photo of the “All of Me” singer with disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinsteinbegan making the rounds online, prompting some to wonder why he’s denounced Kelly and not Weinstein. The film producer is set to stand trial May 6 on sexual assault charges, but rumors of his behavior have been circulating for years.
Not one to hold his tongue, Legend took to Twitter to comment on the now-viral photo of him, his wife Chrissy Teigen and Weinstein.
“I took a photo with and worked with Harvey on several occasions before his abuse was known to me and the rest of the world,” he wrote. “Since his being exposed, his company and career have rightfully been destroyed and he’s been indicted. Sounds like something that should happen to R. Kelly.”
He continued, “If y’all wanna cape for R and discount all these women’s stories, just say it. Don’t bring up some old pics of me and somebody else.”
Legend appears in Lifetime’s shocking expose, Surviving R. Kelly, which analyzed the long-rumored history of alleged sexual misconduct by the singer. According to the docuseries’s executive producer Dream Hampton, the EGOT recipient was the only high-profile figure who agreed to participate.
Legend said his solidarity with Kelly’s accusers to be an “easy decision.”
