Tory Lanez's lawyer requests to push back start of Megan Thee Stallion
Tory Lanez‘s lawyer is looking to push back the rapper’s upcoming trial date in the ongoing case with Megan Thee Stallion.
During a hearing on Thursday — at which Tory was a no-show — his lawyer requested that the start of the trial, set for September 14, be postponed, citing “potential conflicts” with another case in which Megan is involved.
Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon provided the update on Twitter, adding the judge set another hearing to avoid making a “premature” decision. All parties are due back in court on August 12, when the judge will determine whether the conflicts have cleared up and the trial should be delayed.
Tory and Megan have been embroiled in a case regarding the shooting that injured her left foot. Megan claims Tory pulled the trigger, but he has maintained his innocence.

Naturi Naughton on directing an episode of 'Power': “That's my dream”
It’s been nearly a decade since Naturi Naughton introduced herself as Tasha St. Patrick on the Starz series Power. The role, she says, has been a “game changer” in her acting career and has even brought “much beauty and complexity” to her private life. But, there’s still one thing she hasn’t yet been able to do — direct an episode.
In an interview with Variety, Naturi revealed it’s her dream to get in the director chair for Power. As the original show has already come to an end, it’s assumed she’s referring to Power Book II: Ghost, on which she appears as a recurring character.
“I’m pushing for that every season. I’ve expressed to all the producers and showrunners how much I would love the opportunity to direct, and I know I can do it,” she said. “You might see an episode next year directed by Naturi Naughton.”
In the meantime, Naturi, who took filmmaking courses at New York Film Academy, is showing off her behind-the-scenes skills in her directorial debut, Behind the Smile, a BET HER film about a woman living with vitiligo. It launched on July 9 and has been a great experience for the actress.
“Being in the director’s chair is a dream come true …,” Naturi told Variety.
She added, “The director’s chair feels nice and cozy. I think I’m going to be in it a lot more.”

Issa Rae's Raedio label releases “Seduce and Scheme” from Rap Sh!t soundtrack
If you watched the two-episode premiere of Rap Sh!t last week, you’re familiar with the song “Seduce & Scheme,” created by lead characters Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion). The catchy freestyle-turned-track can now be played outside watching the show as it’s been released as the lead single off Rap Sh!t‘s season 1 soundtrack.
On the HBO Max series, “Seduce & Scheme” was the result of a drunken night, which ended in a spontaneous freestyle. In reality, however, the song was conceived at Camp Raedio, a series of writing workshops in Miami specifically intended to create music for the show’s soundtrack.
“It was a team effort: We had a couple of writers, one of the writers being pineappleCITI, who originally started the song,” Raedio President Benoni Tagoe tells Billboard. “And then we brought in Dreezy, because we knew that we wanted Dreezy to represent the voice of Shawna throughout the season.”
A slew of other writers assisted with Mia’s verse — though KaMillion is a rapper in real life — and Grammy-winning producer Earl on the Beat was brought on to help bring the song to fruition.
“Seduce & Scheme” is available now on streaming platforms. Though the single samples Khia’s “K-Wang,” Tagoe says other songs from the soundtrack were inspired by the likes of Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim and executive producers City Girls, who Dreezy channels when writing lyrics for Shawna.
“Before I write, I put myself in the character’s shoes. I pictured them as if they were the City Girls!” she told Billboard. “All about a bag, confident, and slick at the mouth so I made sure the lyrics came with that energy.”

Beyoncé shares letter on her website ahead of 'Renaissance' release
Just ahead of her Renaissance album release, Beyoncé shared a letter on her website detailing how special the project is to her.
“This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative,” she wrote in Thursday’s post.
“Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world,” she added. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”
Beyoncé went on to thank her children, Rumi, Sir and Blue, and her husband, Jay Z, as well as other family members, friends and collaborators.
“To all of my fans: I hope you find joy in this music,” she concluded. “I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are. Love y’all deep, B.”
