Nas releases short film inspired by his latest album, “Nasir”

ABC/Randy HolmesNas released a short film Thursday inspired by his latest album, Nasir, which was executive-produced by Kanye West.

The 16-minute movie includes vocals from all seven songs on the album, and scenes of police brutality appear throughout. Slick Rick makes a cameo appearance as the film takes the Illmatic rapper back to his roots growing up in the Queensbridge section of New York City.

The film ends with the rapper walking alone on a beach, seeking serenity as he raps “Simple Things” from his Nasir album.
