Mariah Carey scores highest-charting holiday hit in 60 years on the “Billboard” Hot 100

FilmMagic for dcp via ABC/Jeff Kravitz/AMA2018When Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was first released by in 1994, it wasn’t eligible to appear on the Billboard Hot 100.  Well, it’s really making up for lost time now.

Mariah’s holiday hit has just become the highest-charting Christmas song on the Hot 100 in 60 years, as it rises from number seven to number six.  The last time a Christmas song ranked higher on the Hot 100 was in 1958, when “The Chipmunk Song” by David Seville hit #1.
