'Little Fires Everywhere' star Lexi Underwood tapped to play Malia Obama in Showtime's 'The First Lady'

Courtesy of HuluLittle Fires Everywhere actress Lexi Underwood is set to star opposite Viola Davis in the upcoming Showtime anthology series The First Lady.

Variety has learned that Underwood has been tapped to play Michelle Obama‘s eldest daughter Maliain the new series, told from the perspective of the women “at the heart of the White House.” She joins Davis, who will play Mrs. Obama, and O-T Fagbenle, who will appear as President Barack Obama.

Underwood’s Malia is described as “open-minded and intelligent,” and as someone who “pushes her parents to make socially conscious decisions.”

The young actress is latest to be cast in the upcoming anthology. The First Lady will also star Michelle Pfeiffer, Aaron Eckhart, Dakota Fanning,
