Janelle Monáe says her “Dirty Computer” Grammy nod shows that her peers recognize “marginalized voices”

Atlantic RecordsJanelle Monáe has been a woman to watch this past year. The multifaceted artist’s latest effort, Dirty Computer, appears on numerous year-end “best of 2018” lists, and now it’s earned her a career milestone: a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.  Monáe says the project’s success is due to the fact that it speaks for people whose voices aren’t often heard.

Reacting to her Grammy nominations while promoting her upcoming movie Welcome to Marwen, Janelle told ABC Radio, “ just super-thankful that an album that was about me and also about a community
