Idris Elba shares release date for his upcoming Netflix drama 'Concrete Cowboy'

Maarten de Boer/Contour Idris Elba has announced the release date for his highly anticipated father-son drama Concrete Cowboys.

On Instagram on Monday, Elba shared the film’s spring premiere date.

“Concrete Cowboy coming to Netflix April 2,” he captioned the image.”You are who you ride with.”

Adapted from the novel Ghetto Cowboy by G. Neri and directed by Ricky Straub, Concrete Cowboy stars Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin as a troubled teen who spends the summer in North Philadelphia learning about the urban cowboy subculture from his estranged father, played by Elba.

For Elba, being a part of the film was a rare opportunity to tell a different kind of Black story.
