Ella Mai says Grammy nominations are like the cherry on top” of an “amazing year

ABC/Image Group LAElla Mai has always dreamed of winning a Grammy, and that dream may now come true.  She was nominated for two awards today: Song of the Year, and Best R&B Song, for “Boo’d Up.”

The 24-year-old singer heard the news announced by Michael Strahan as she appeared on Good Morning America in New York City.

“I really didn’t know before I got on stage. So when Michael said it, I was like, What? I didn’t know what to say,” Mai tells ABC Radio. “I’m just super, super grateful. The Grammys is something that, as any musician or artist, we look up to it from
