Eddie Murphy in talks to play George Clinton, Gunna to appear on 'SNL' and more

— Actor/comedian Eddie Murphy is in talks to play the “Godfather of Funk,” George Clinton, in an upcoming biopic, Deadline reports.

The film will tell the story of Clinton’s contribution to funk music, highlighting his humble beginnings in North Carolina and his musical influence on artists like Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. 

Murphy will also executive produce the film, according to the report, alongside partners John Davis and Catherine Davis of the Davis Entertainment production company.

— The musical guest for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode is none other than Gunna. 

The rapper, alongside host Jerrod Carmichael and SNL cast member Heidi Gardner, revealed the news in a funny, skit-like announcement video on Friday.
