Strong Arm MediaAs the Sugarhill Gang plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their pioneering hit “Rapper’s Delight” next year, the members are joining two MCs from the Furious 5 to form a new supergroup.
Grandmaster Melle Mel and Scorpio are joining the Sugarhill Gang to record new music and perform together on the “Rapper’s Delight” 40th anniversary tour in 2019.
“This is history in the making,” Scorpio says in a statement. “We’ve seen the evolution of hip-hop and rap go from a place where there was a lot of naysayers, to it being a full-blown respected genre taking over. This is amazing!”
