Rob Reiner and wife Michelle Singer found dead in their Los Angeles home

Filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found stabbed to death at their Los Angeles home on Sunday. The couple’s family said in a statement via Variety: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.” On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to a home to provide medical aid, the LAFD told PEOPLE.
