Ne-Yo almost signed Lucky Daye — until this happened

Once upon a time, Ne-Yo was considering signing Lucky Daye — that is, until Ne-Yo says Daye betrayed his trust. 

While appearing on Sunday’s episode of the Frequently Asked Questions podcast, Ne-Yo revealed that he was working with and had hoped to sign Daye, who was working under his birth name David Brown at the time.

“The remix to ‘Miss Independent’ with me, and Jamie Foxx, and ? Jamie Foxx’s verse — Lucky Daye wrote that verse. He wrote the verse because it was supposed to be him,” Ne-Yo said of the 2008 hit. 

Things went south apparently after Ne-Yo offered his home to the “Over” singer, with one stipulation.
