Forest Whitaker joins Netflix's 'Havoc,' Jamie Foxx to exec produce & star in Mike Tyson doc; & more

Paras Griffin/Getty ImagesForest Whitaker is joining forces with Tom Hardy for the forthcoming Netflix action thriller Havoc, Deadline has learned.

Written and directed by The Raid helmer Gareth Evans, the film follows a detective who works to rescue a politician’s estranged son, who’s stuck in the criminal underworld. As he does, the detective begins to unravel a “deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.”

This will be the latest project for Whitaker, who was last featured in Netflix’s Jingle Jangle. Up next, he’ll star as Aretha Franklin’s father C.L. in the biopic Respect, starring Jennifer Hudson as the Queen of Soul.

Meanwhile, Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx will star in and exec produce Tyson, a limited series about boxing great Mike Tyson that will be directed
