ABC/Rick RowellQueen Latifah has been tapped to kick some major butt in her next TV role.
Deadline has learned that CBS has given a pilot production commitment to a TV spinoff for the The Equalizer, starring Latifah.
The series, which will also be produced by Latifah’s production company, Flavor Unit, will follow the actress as an “enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn.”
According to Deadline, Latifah’s new role is a “new take” on the character first played by Edward Woodard in the 1980s CBS TV series, and most recently played by Denzel Washington in the Antoine Fuqua-directed and produced film franchise.
