USC opens new building to house the Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre Academy

iStock/WolterkThe University of Southern California opened a brand-new building Wednesday to house its school named after Dr. Dre and record executive Jimmy Iovine.

Iovine and Young Hall is the new home for the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy, which was founded in 2013 when the duo, who together launched Beats Electronics, donated $70 million to USC. At the academy, students will earn bachelor’s degrees in arts, technology and the business of innovation.

“Every day that passes, in technology and media, it seems more and more necessary that we need young people to fill jobs that are fluent in both languages, technology and the arts,” Iovine tells Billboard.
