21 Savage scores first #1 album with “I Am > I Was”

Slaughter Gang/Epic Records21 Savage is closing out 2018 with a milestone: his first #1 album.

Released December 21, the rapper’s sophomore studio disc I Am > I Was has debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart with first-week sales of 131,000 units.  His debut solo studio album Issa Album reached #2 in 2017.

Savage’s album includes features from Travis Scott, Post Malone, Childish Gambino, Offset and more.

The album’s release came with some controversy, though: Savage apologized for the song “ASMR,” which features the line “We been getting that Jewish money. Everything is Kosher.”  LeBron James, who’d quoted
