Anderson .Paak has teamed back up with South Korean alt-R&B singer DEAN for their latest collaboration, “Aftertaste,” marking the duo’s first release together in more than ten years. The track arrived on May 8 alongside an official music video and serves as another preview of .Paak’s upcoming creative era tied to his new film, K-Pops!, which is scheduled to hit Netflix on May 30.

Produced by Dem Jointz, Aftertaste blends energetic percussion with smooth synth-driven melodies, creating a mix of club-ready rhythms and mellow R&B textures. The release continues the musical chemistry fans first heard on the pair’s 2015 collaboration “Put My Hands On You.” “Aftertaste” also follows .Paak’s earlier 2026 single “Keychain,” featuring aespa, which hinted at a broader soundtrack-inspired project connected to K-Pops!. The music reflects .Paak’s blend of hip-hop, funk, and R&B influences alongside themes tied to his Black and Korean background.

Set around a K-pop competition series in Seoul, K-Pops! centers on family relationships, cultural identity, and music bringing generations together. .Paak not only directed and co-wrote the film but also stars in it with his son, Soul Rasheed.
