WNBA star Brittney Griner's pre-trial detention in Russia extended as US works to negotiate her release

The extension comes one week after the U.S. State Department reclassified Griner as being “wrongfully detained” in Russia. “The welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad is among the highest priorities of the U.S government.
