Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday in Indianapolis on preliminary misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated while endangering another person, according to police and Marion County jail records. Allen, 34, was taken into custody at about 1 a.m. after officers investigating a parking violation found his vehicle in a no-parking zone and reported signs of intoxication.
The arrest came only hours after Allen made his preseason debut with Indianapolis in a 25-16 loss to the Detroit Lions on Saturday. He caught one pass for 24 yards before leaving the game. The veteran receiver joined the Colts earlier this month on a one-year contract reportedly worth up to $8.32 million, adding experience to an Indianapolis receiving group undergoing significant changes.
The Colts acknowledged the incident Sunday but said the organization was still gathering information. “We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night,” the team said. “We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.” A message seeking comment was also left for Allen’s agent.
Allen is entering his 14th NFL season and has established himself as one of the league’s most accomplished receivers. The six-time Pro Bowl selection spent 12 seasons with the Chargers, including a return to Los Angeles last season after one year with the Chicago Bears. In 17 games in 2025, he recorded 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns. For his career, he has 1,055 catches, 12,051 receiving yards and 70 touchdowns.
The incident comes as the Colts prepare for the regular season, which begins Sept. 13 at home against the Baltimore Ravens. The team has not announced any disciplinary action involving Allen, and the legal matter remains pending.
